Swans Island 100% Organic Merino Yarns are here! If you have a minute, click on the photo below to go to their blog. I think it gives you the best sense of what this yarn and company are all about. Swans Island began as a totally organic, hand-crafted blanket company based on Swans Island, located off the coast of Maine in early 1990. They have been producing these blankets for 20 years and have recently begun applying their expertise to the yarn market. They use 100% organic merino wool and all natural dyes. The fleece is then spun at an historic mill in Maine--one of only four GOTS (Global Organic Trade Standards) certified mills in the United States.
What does all this mean? It is a bit of a step back in time...or maybe forward...to a beautiful, HANDCRAFTED yarn, which is remarkably soft. It is produced in a manner that is totally focused on the impact their processes have on both the yarn and the planet. We have two weights, a lovely, not too thin, lace weight and a worsted weight, both in remarkable colors.
